A guide to the newly introduced Thaumanova Reactor fractal introduced with GW2’s Fractured update.
Storymode
General info
Storymode is only completeable once per account but you can always do it more times with players who havn’t done storymode yet. It is a nice and short fractal if you know what to do and the chest at the end give out agony infusions and fractal relics every time you complete it.
Clear out the Skritt defending the central control panel
Once you push the detonator and defeat the first wave of mobs, head upstairs and clear out the portals. These portals will pull you to them so becareful and don’t get pulled off the platform. The water below is toxic but they are harmless if you jump through them.
Disable the colliders to stabilize the core: 0/2
You have 3 rooms you can access here. Players tend to do the ooze and turret room since it is a bit easier compared to the superheated room. I will cover these 2 rooms for now.
Ooze Room (Subject 6)
Ooze Room is in the NE corner of the fractal. You have to defeat Champion Subject 6 to get the collider. He isn’t a very hard boss but there are a couple things you need to be aware
Once you have killed Subject 6, you can access a console in the room that will disable one of the two colliders.
Turret Room
Turret room is a maze with tons of turrets that will knock you down and down you in 2-3 hits. You can grab the safety shield near the entrance of the room to block some turret attacks with the #1 skill. Keep in mind that if you block too many hits with the shield, it will overheat and apply a DoT to you.
There are 3 consoles in the room that you need to be aware. I have named them A, B and C by the sequence you need to activate them in. Here is a map of their rough locations in the maze. You need to activate Console A to gain access to Console B which in turn grant you access to Console C. A and B only need one player each while C needs two players (although one player with a cleanse can probably handle both consoles at C).
Console A: This is what console A looks like. One person in the group need to run to it and activate it. There is a safe spot to the left of the console you can stand without getting hit by the turrets. The person by console A need to keep pressing the console to remove the force field surrounding Console B.
Console B: This console is protected by a force field which isn’t removed until the person at Console A press their console. Once the force field is removed, you can enter the press the console to allow access to console C.
Console C: Console C also have a force field surrounding it that is removed by clicking Console B. Two players will need to interact with the console to get the second collider. Doing so will also port you out of the turret room.
Once you have disabled the second collider. Players at console C can directly port out of the room. Player at console B can also port out via a portal at back of their console room. Players at A and the remaining 5th player will need to make their way out of the turret room. Everyone meet back at the center of the reactor to meet up for the final boss fight.
Thaumanova Anomaly
Once everyone is gathered up at the center of reactor, press the console near Scarlet to enter the final boss room. Everyone will need to click the console personally to get ported to the boss room.
The main thing with this boss is that he has a number of attacks that will destroy platforms. If you fall through a gap in the platform, you will be downed instantly and likely die. The strat we use is simply have everyone bundle up together and run as a group in a circle around the boss. As long everyone keeps up and no one runs ahead, the platforms that the boss destroys are left behind and won’t affect us.

- Unlike other storymode stuff from previous Living World releases, this is designed for a party of 5.

- Kill small oozes as soon as they spawn as they will heal Champion Subject 6 otherwise if they get to him.
- When Champion Subject 6 has a blocking buff on him and gains a stacking buff, stop attack immediately. If you let him reach 20 stacks, he will perform an attack that will instantly down you.
- If you do stop attacking and he doesn’t reach 20 stacks of that stacking buff, he will perform an ooze shower attack which is mostly harmless in storymode. It is very inaccurate and doesn’t do a lot of damage even if you get hit.
Once you have killed Subject 6, you can access a console in the room that will disable one of the two colliders.
