GW2 Everything We Learned from the Path of Fire Demo

VIDEO VERSION OF THIS POST IS HERE:
The Path of Fire demo was last weekend, and I've tried to do as much research, and find as many things in the demo as I could to compile a list of things that we know are coming/could be coming to the game via the next expansion. This list does not include all the obvious things that we already know is coming from the official announcement (there's been several threads about that already).
MOUNTS
  • They were received really well by the community, for the most part. We know that you can mount swap, very similarly to weapon swap. So you cannot equip all the mounts at once. If there is hotkey integration, which one person has pointed out however, this might still be possible to access all mounts.
  • The griffon mount that was leaked was probably a cancelled mount all together, or it might be coming in Living World Season 4.
  • You can dye mounts the same way you dye your gear.
  • You can race against other players on their mounts, it's in the form of an event.
BARRIER MECHANIC
  • New combat mechanic coming into the game.
  • Serves as an additional health pool/shield/safe-zone for over-healing. Damage taken will burn through the barrier first, before it burns through your actual health pool.
  • Barrier will be determined by vitality and healing power. More specifically, the caster's healing power and the recipients vitality.
  • Barrier can be applied through skills from different classes and elite specializations such as Scourge.
  • Barrier will also be implemented into runes/sigils/some core classes as well.
BOUNTY SYSTEM
  • Can be accessed through the bounty board, but does not require players to interact with the bounty board.
  • The bounty board is used for event activation, but for event rewards, you only need to participate in the event that is associated with the boss, and defeating it.
  • Rares seem to be a common drop for these bounties, some people have gotten exotics as well.
  • Each bounty boss has a specific buff you need to pay attention to, and specific unique mechanics as well. So each bounty boss fight will be somewhat different. The wiki already has some detailed info on the bosses and buffs.
  • From my understanding these serve as mini-world bosses that players can farm are on the difficulty scale of some fractal bosses. However, I am not sure if they are tied to daily limits, or if you can farm the events and event rewards (probably not), can anyone confirm on which it is?
IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM
  • To save inventory space, piles of gear are now stacked as one item, unidentified gear, max stack is 250, I am assuming, can anyone confirm?
  • You can salvage unidentified gear to get crafting materials.
  • Or you can pay 1 silver and 80-or so copper to identify each piece of unidentified gear, the results could be crafting materials, blue gear, green gear, yellow gear, or orange gear. So there's still RNG involved just as if you were getting gear from events/mobs you kill.
  • Magic find affects identifying gear I heard, can anyone confirm?
  • Unidentified gear is marked as green item, so be aware when using Salvage All, hopefully this gets fixed in the official release.
  • You get unidentified gear from events, mobs you kill, bounties, and pretty much anyway you would have gotten gear before.
  • To identify gear you need to complete a heart and then the option to pay and identify gear becomes available from the heart vendor.
NEW HEART MECHANICS
  • You can now buy crafting materials in bulk with karma and the new contracts currency. Contracts can be gained from events primarily, can anyone confirm if they drop from mobs as well?
  • These crafting materials include leather and even some tier 6 crafting materials.
  • Heart vendors also offers keys that you can buy to open chests scattered around the desert. Similar to the chests in Dry Top and Silverwastes, but you don't need to uncover them. You can get keys from events as well.
  • All heart related, and I think event event related items that you get from gathering or killing mobs can be sold back to the NPC for karma.
EVENTS
  • There was an event informant in the Crystal Oasis, this NPC shows players which events are active on the map, and shows them where the events are. Hopefully there will be one of these in every map.
  • No official word on whether there will be meta events in the new maps. There was a casino coins meta event in the demo, however it wasn't very large. Maybe we'll get multiple meta events?
  • Underwater content is still something ArenaNet is putting into the game, but in limited quantities.
NEW STAT COMBO SETS, ELITE SPECS & MISCELLANEOUS STUFF
  • There's a new Sandstorm gambling game, similar to the ectoplasm gambling game.
  • A possible card game could be coming to the game, there was some dialogue about it with some NPCs in the gambling area (I hope this is true).
  • The second preview weekend featuring the new elite specs is next weekend, starting August 18, 2017. We'll be able to try our elite specs in WvW and sPvP. Note there are still PvE mobs in WvW, and in the PvP lobby.
  • You cannot equip 2 elite specs when building your characters, you need to pick 1 elite spec for your last slot, and 2 core specs for the first two slots.
  • 4-5 new stat sets for gears are coming. One of them will be Pow/Prec/Condi/Healing (Power and Healing main), and Pow/Prec/Condi/Fer (Power and Condition Damage main).
  • There are 3-4 new 4-stat combos, and 1 new 3-stat combo for gears.
  • From some interviews, it's evident that devs are learning from HoT and from the community on making this expansion badass. They've also had a lot more time and have been listening to us... for the most part :)
Hopefully that summed everything up pretty well, and please confirm anything that I wasn't sure about and feel free to add on anything I may have missed.
